  1. http://www.ocfs.state.ny.us/ccfs_facilit...

The Office of Child and Family Services is the agency in the state of New York that oversees all licensed daycare facilities and family daycare centers. The link above is a search agent that will show you not only all of the licensed centers in your county/town but any violations they have had in the last five years. It will also list any centers or home daycares that have been shut down in the past five years for serious violations.

Edit: DSS is only going to assist you if you are receiving daycare subsidies.

  2. The best way in new yorl state I have found (I live in nys and this is how I found my daycare and babysitters) is to call social services they will send you or email you all the licensed babysitter and daycare centers in your county or the county you need a sitter for. They are really good at giving you people that have had violations, and they help you with money if so needed. I found that contacting social services is the easiest and most comforting way to find someone to watch your child. I dont know what county you live in, but I live in Onondaga considering it is small compared to other places in nys, and the listed about 25 places that were able to take my child. I wish you the best of luck!

(if you get a lisenced sitter by the state of ny, you can write it off on your taxes!)
