I have a deposit down on an ex-race horse, however he is 6. The vets say that is his prime years. So we are hoping that he did not just pass the vet check due to Bute. Is there a site or anyway to figure out the history of this horse. His racing name is Ben's Courage and is currently in colorado. Thanks a bunch for your help!

  1. If he is a quarter horse and has a tattoo you can call AQHA in Amarillo Texas. If he is TB call the Jockey Club.

  2. go here: http://www.pedigreequery.com/bens+courag...

This horse is very lightly raced! 8 Starts- 3-0-1, and he earned $48,720.

Use the link I gave you, you will see a small case i in a circle next to his name. This is info you will be interested in. It will not give you the reasons why he was so lightly raced, but if you dig deeper you might find out something more.

  3. You can probably find what you need at the Jockey Club site as suggested.  I don't think you need the tatoo just the name because the names are unique for 20+ years.  I did a quick search on "Ben's Courage" and found several references to the races he was entered in.  He was California raced and a 20-30,000 claimer.  I didn't see many results but he must have been worth something.  If you're looking for medical history, you probably won't find that anywhere.  Bottomline, he seems to have been a legitemate race horse for a couple of years.

  4. If he's tattoo'd you can get his info from the Jockey Club.

Here's the site for researching it:  http://www.tjcis.com/otherServicesDispla...
