  1. Contact your satellite company and see what they recommend. They may offer a service from their install people. I have not ever had to do it as my sat dishes are at ground level. But if I had to I would explore the following ideas.

You could use a garden hose hook it up to a warm water faucet in your house. Even cold water will knock the snow off. Warm water will evaporate quicker and won't leave as much ice on it. Be careful of power lines though.

If your dish is low on your roof you could use a broom by itself or stand on a ladder and try to reach the dish. Obviously you have to be extremely careful here. You don't want to fall and, you need to again, watch out for power lines. Depending on how high your dish is neither of these methods may even work well. You could attach a long pole on a broom possibly but then that might be hard to control and you could damage your dish if you are not careful.

  2. Just go to the hardware store and get one of those really long extension poles, and a (soft!) brush of some sort to attach to it.

You don't want something too stiff, just enough to move the snow.  If the snow is packed onto the dish, you'll probably have to go up there and gently remove it with your hand or something.

  3. i just use the water hose and aim at the dish and the snow just falls off. i used to climb up to the roof but then i found this new way and there is no risk of falling of the roof and breaking a leg which is great.

    hope this helps!

  4. You can also try keeping it sprayed down with PAM or the like.  It makes the snow slide right off.
