I want to attempt to make alcohol that would be safe for drinking. Where do i find yeast and does it really matter what kind I use? Basically can I find it at like "ShopN Save" or another grocery store?

  1. My ex-girlfriend has PLENTY to spare.

  2. Hi.  I am an amateur wine maker with 20 litres on the go of plum wine and apple wine.  While you can make something with ordinary baker's yeast it doesn't make very drinkable wine nor a very high alcohol content.  You need proper wine yeast from a home brew shop.  Wine is easy to make provided you are very clean and have a very small amount of basic equipment.  I suggest you google for recipes and basic technique or buy a book on amateur wine making.

  3. Yes, you can find bread yeast in any supermarket. But to make good alcohol you need more specific yeasts. Beer yeast is different than wine yeast which is different for a mash to make alcohol.

Did you know that amateur distillers are well known for blowing themselves up? That's why they're known to do it in the woods! They also do it in the woods because it makes quite a stink - the neighbors may notice!

If you even know where to buy yeast you might want to do a little more research.

Good luck with that and watch your step!

  4. You can find yeast in any grocery store in the baking aisle. It's usually by the flour. I wouldn't worry about brand.
