  1. Why do you want to OWN a wild animal? They don't make good pets, and as far as I know it's illegal. Now if you want to care for wild animals or use them for educational purposes, that may be an ok reason to "own" them.

However, I think it might depend on where you live and the state laws.

    Dept of Environmental Protection

    Department of Agriculture

    Department of Natural Resources

  2. Most states have laws against owning wild animals.  They make horrible pets, are dangerous, and require LOTS of time, money, responsibility, experience, education and dedication.  If you do not have all these things, I suggest you get a domesticated animal instead.

Also, if you really love wild animals you would never want to have one as a pet for your own selfish needs.

  3. okay i think it would be sweet to OWN an exotic animal idk what the h**l some of these people are talking about

  4. Is that even possible? Usually you require a license for a specific animal (captive bred), wild animals should not be owned, this is why we have a pet trade. Capturing a wild animal exerts an enormous amount of stress on the creature which is hazardous to it's health, i do not recommend you to capture wild animals, it is rather cruel. Certain species, by law, should not be captured or disturbed from their natural habitat and you must be licensed simply to handle such wild animals, though you are still not permitted to own them.

  5. It depends on what the animal is. You may need a permit from the state game department. You may need that plus a permit from the Fish and Wildlife Service. You may just need a fishing license. You may need none of the above. Do you want a lion? There may be local laws about that. Falconers require both state and federal permits. A pet turtle may not require any permits at all.

Remember that all domestic animals were once wild.
