  1. Call teh legal aide organization in your state. They should tell you what to do right over the phone and/or help you in other ways for free.

  2. Teachers and professionals that work with children are required by law to report any concerns they have regarding the children they work with by law.  They are called Mandated Reporters.  The teachers being at the meetings is relevant if they have expressed concerns regarding the child's care or lack there of.

As for being the children's grandparent, there is little you can do in this area.  You need to just let it play itself out and allow the parents to take the appropriate course of action.  Grandparents do not have many legal rights when it comes to grandchildren, unless deemed by the courts because the parents are seen as unfit.

Best of luck!  I hope the outcome is in the best interest of the children.

  3. Get yourself or the children's parents to talk with the school and explain what you are experiencing, they ARE there to help, also if the school thinks anything is going on they would LEGALLY have to report.  Talk to health visitor, doctors or even phone social services or get in touch with a voluntary group

  4. As a grandparent you have very few rights as far as any grandchildren are concerned.

You could get in contact with the social services and ask them to explain why they have places the children on the register.

You could also see the Citizens Advice Bureau and explain your worries. They might be able to help you contact a lawyer.

  5. well there is dcf.. they help alot with child neglect

  6. The teachers are there observing they are trying to here all sides of the comments/concerns about the children. It actually could be a good thing that they are there. They have to follow up with every complaint so they can see if some of these other parents are just trying to start trouble. I would go to the guidance counselor  and or the principal of their schools and talk to them about these other parents and their wrong assumptions about your Grandchildren and tell them you want them stopped with these  accusations! If they can not handle it you can go to your local police department and start filing complaints against the parents ,the schools and Social Services for harassment of un-true accusations!

  7. I am sure they are taking notes so don't fool yourself that nothing is being said

  8. If you live in the UK the Children Act states that every report of suspected child abuse has to be investigated. To have had a Case Conference and for the children to have been subject to a Child Protection Plan there must have been concern about the children being at risk of significant harm or it wouldn't have happened. The positive side of this is that your family will get the help they need to ensure the children are safe which is ultimately what most parents and grandparents want for their children. The down side for you might be the realisation that your daughter or son is struggling taking care of the children and they need specialised help. Anyone who has contact with the children will be part of a Core Group of people who have to work together for the welfare of the children. If you are adamant that the children are not at risk then you can appeal but if there is any doubt in your mind let the people who know what they are doing get on with it. Most parents want the best for their children they just struggle sometimes and need support and help. If you are in the UK find your nearest Children's Centre who might be able to support you too.

  9. If you repost with your state and if you have custody of the kids it would help.  Are they living with there parents?  Are you the legal guardian?  It all makes a difference.
