Where do i get start if there's not a common factor? 2x²+5x-25=0?

  2. Use the quadratic formula:

    If Ax²+Bx+C=0, then:

    x = [-B ± √(B²-4AC)] / (2A)

    2x²+5x-25=0

    x = [-5 ± √(25-4(2)(-25))] / 4

    = [-5 ± √(25+200)] / 4

    = [-5 ± 15] / 4

    = {-20/4, 10/4}

    = {-5, 5/2}

    EDIT: And yes, factoring it also works, but the quadratic formula is more general and works for any real A, B, and C.
