  1. Port size and length is what tunes the box, you need to get that exactly right! by tube do you mean an Aeroport? if so then cut it to length(length, again, determines frequency). If you want loudness from your L7, tune about 30-35 Hz. that will be musical and get loud when you feel like making your ears bleed.

  2. the guys before me are correct about what they say.

mecuri said to multiply the length by 12.56 to get the area?? no. the area of a 2" circle is 6.28 (A = Pi x R^2) not sure where he got the 12.56 from. but the length of the port will depend on the volume of the box, desired tuning freq., and port area. (there is a long calculation that i won't get into now.)

however what has been left out is if you add a port, you will be taking away airspace. the port volume does not count as box volume. you say that your box is already small...adding the port will make it that much smaller....unless you have the port external....none inside the box....which looks like p**p.

i am concerned that you will not get what your looking for because a ported box is usually larger than a sealed one to make up for the difference of the port. also, if you have a small box, the port needs to be longer (and in turn will take up more room) than it would need to be in a larger box to get a decent tuning freq. (usually 30-38Hz for cars).

the port should be place on the same side of the box as the sub and as far away from the sub as possible.

honestly, if your at the smallest volume sealed now, you'd be better off starting with a new box. i can help you design a box if your interested...lmk.

  3. quick and easy port is to use some pvc pipe with a couple of 90 degree elbos, great for small spaces. if you use 2 " pvc pipe it is 12.56in2(multiply this by the legth to get the area of the tube.
