Where do i salmon fish in alaska i'm visiting in fairbanks?

  1. Not near Fairbanks, unfortunately.   On the Kenai peninsula, rivers running into Cook's inlet.   On the southeast coast, Ketchikan, Juneau, area, etc.


  2. There are 2 rivers in the Fairbanks area you can salmon fish:

    1) Chena River, it has some decent areas to fish.

    2) Tannana River, be careful fishing this river as it is a fast flowing river and carries a lot of silt and debris which makes it dangerous to wade.



    A short 20 or 30 miles east of Fairbanks is the Salcha River that is clear to rust color due to the iron deposits up river. I have seen some nice Kings come out of this river.

  3. Unless it's landlocked salmon - you need to time your trip according to the salmon migration and state laws for catching them...the Alaska Dept of Nat Resources or  Fish and game should be one of your first stops...
