Where do i start to find out about college football scholarships?

Question

my son is currently in the 7th grade but his dream is to play in college and to get a scholarship, when and where should i start the ball rolling. he is a great player and this year he is playing QB for the first time. I dont have to slightest clue as where to start though. i dont want him to give up because of the whole process.
