  1. It isn't necessary to take your piggie anywhere--you can do it yourself with a pair of human toenail clippers.

It might be a little scary at first, but after a few times, you will have greater confidence and it will be no big deal at all.

For the first time, you may want to ask someone to help hold the piggie still while you cut. Or, you can try distracting the piggie with a piece of carrot--you cut while piggie eats.

See the following link for information on how to cut the nails. You want to be sure you don't cut into the quick. If you accidentally cut the quick, its not the end of the world. You may want to have some styptic powder on hand (this can be bought at any pet supply store) just in case. It is very inexpensive & well worth it when you need it! Also scroll down & look at "Heather's Handy Pig Hold". This is the hold I use and it works very well.

    Good luck!

  2. You can take him to a vet and it costs around $35. Or, you get a human nail clipper and cut them down but if you cut the red part, you'll have guinea blood.

    Hope I helped!

  3. Bring your guinea pig to the veterinary clinic. The veterinarian and the clinic staff are well trained in cutting the nails.

If you want to try it next time, you can even ask them to teach you how to do it properly. They'll even give tips on which brand or type of nail clipper you should get and how to handle and restrain your guinea pig.

  4. Do it yourself

  5. ABOTTOIR?

  6. try using a dremil...I use it for all my animals

  7. the petstore or pet grooming salon. they'll do it for u at petsmart.

or, you could just do it urself! thats wat i do. just use normal regular nail clippers, and clip the clear ends off (but never the pink or white parts).

  8. any pet place near you.(petsmart~petco~the vet)

  9. you can buy a clipper at a pet store and do it yourself. or you can take him into a petsmart and they will probably charge you  about 15 dollars to do it.

  10. an animal hospital (vet) prolly petsmart does it

  11. the vet. of you can do it on your own. take regular nail clippers, and just clip the clearish bart of the nail. dont get more than 3mm to the dark colored part: thats where the flesh is. cut then vertically, not horizontally like you would with yourself.

  12. use a human nail cutter... but u need to b careful.. only cut as far as the white part..u will need two people to do this.. the best thing to do is to go to a vet for the first time and get it clipped but also ask exactly how they do it.. then u can clip them yourself.. but if u have a frisky guinea pig i advise u to go to a vet because if you cutit too deep they wll bleed to death

  13. My house, & you'll never see it again :].

  14. usully you can go to the vet. or if u no any friends that can cut the nails ask them.

    cutting nails is quite simple.

    u will need:

    - a pair of rodent nail clippers. http://www.rodentswithattitude.co.uk/nai...

    - some help from a friend or parent

    - some syptic powder or corn starch

i would only try clipping ur pigs nail if they arent black. the reason id that the white nails are way easier to clip. because you can see the quick http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images12/Gui... in that pic u can see the pink at the beginning of the nail. thats the quick.

the reason not cutting the quick is so important is that if u cut it it will bleed. if u do that alply the syptic powder or the cornstarch.

so first or all get ur friend or family member to hold the pig on its back or hind legs.

2 nd step is to take the nail clippers and place it on the nail push and clip it.

3 rd if u do cut the quick apply the syptic powder or cornstarch.

    i hope this helps!

    good luck!

  15. get a special rock and that will do!

    hope i helped
