Where do locals go downtown Las Vegas?

I  know a lot of people that go to the Plaza to gamble and eat.  We all go to the Golden Gate for shrimp cocktails.  People who like to play bingo go to the Horseshoe.  We like to see what new show the Fremont Street Experience is doing and during the summertimes, we like to go listen to the live music on Fremont Street.  We go to Great Moments at the Vegas Club for a gourmet meal and we all seem to like the Main Street Station best for a buffet.

We pretty much go wherever the tourists go.

I would like to add that while I agree that we avoid the Strip and downtown areas like the plague, we all have family and friends who come to town.  Then we do the tourist stuff. (except for those concerts downtown during the summer)

The old city is Freemont Street, and a lot of people go there.  However, you will find more locals at places like The Orleans or just off the strip  Remember there are a lot of deals that are just for locals in Las Vegas, so make sure you know what you are getting into.  All the cabbies know where the hot local clubs and off the strip shows are, so play loose.  You find locals at alot of the casinos just off the strip like Rio and the Station group hotels.  The only hotel on strip that I think qualifies as a local favorite is Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Casino.  The locals always look for cheaper food, better table odds, less celebrity entertainment.

Lived here for 15 years.

After the first year or so you avoid downtown/strip at all costs.

Same with all my friends and family.

So my answer is that locals don't go at all.

The Golden Nugget is one place, but to be honest, I saw as many of them in the bigger hotel casinos as I did tourists, so i think the honest answer would be, probably the same places the tourists go.
