they are distilled from normal tap water.

And maybe some of the aforementioned chemicals added to it.

Mineral water occurs naturally. Springs flow through mountains (which are made of different minerals) and as the mountains slowly erode, the minerals flow into the water.  The mineral content depends on where the water comes from (or flows through). That's why mineral water from different companies (i.e., sources) tastes different.
