Where do modern humans come from? Aliens?

Question

Could some one tell me the name of the species we evolved from? Or, how about any species we evolved from? Recent references only please. If you can't find one, does that mean that humans didn't evolve from anything and we really came from aliens?

Seriously, I'm a big fan of evolution. The idea of alien genetic manipulation is fun to think about, but there just isn't enough convincing argument for me to accept it.

Charles Darwin solved that, there is scientific proof (today underlined by DNA samples), and its called evolution.

basically its believed that life started from simple molecule-chains being created billions of years ago.

out of such molecules evolved simple bacteria and more and more complex life.

The process of evolution means that specific variants of a species or an organism was selcted out by simply having a disadvantage in relation to others.  So given that enough time ..voila...

The Alien story is optional as long as you don't ask where THEY evolved from.  Given the fact that it took billions of years for US to evolve, iunlikely unlikely that an extraterrestrial species (within reach) of our planet would evolve in a same way.

There is a theory that all life on Earth originated from planet Mars. The theory says its possible that an asteroid which was once part of Mars may have broken off of the planet during an early development stage where microbes were starting to form. The microbe basically hitched a ride on the asteroid and ended up here, where the conditions were right for it to reproduce and live. I don't know for sure, that's a theory I heard from somewhere.

I suggest you read Richard Dawkin's book 'An Ancestor's Tale'.  It traces back human lineage through the fossil record and genetic evidence.  It's a fascinating read.

If aliens were involved, it was in seeding life in the first place - all life on Earth is related, evolved from a common ancestor.  And when I say 'seeding life', I mean microbes arriving in a comet or something, not aliens coming and building them.  If life did indeed start that way, it just means it formed somewhere else - go back far enough and there weren't any aliens involved originally.

We did not evolve from monkeys.  Monkeys and humans evolved from a common ancestor.

I heard that time travellers cane back in time and were fooling around . I believe that there may have genetic manipulation going on,  Also our culture may be manipulated. Agriculture may have been given to humans.

The story of Adam and Eve is futuristic. They will be super chimps. They will kill humans.

There is scientific, clinical evidence (not proof) that we have evolved from a form of primate in Africa millenia ago. The evidence is in our mitochondrial DNA and cross referenced with 'Lucy' the Australopithecus (sp whoops).

Modern primates also are traced back to having the same ancestral line. The 'missing link' is quite understandable. If you can accept that the Earth teemed with a variety of dinosaur life for millions of years, you may accept that nature doesn't really preserve all of them as fossils. Organic matter (us) deteriorates almost completely over time unless the conditions are very specific.

There isn't any chain of evidence for the paranormal. There isn't any research that has been found to be statistically significant (0.01 etc) that the paranormal is real. It's not the same as evolution missing a link in the chain. I know that you are looking for 'more' in life, that's commendable, but don't be blind to what's in front of you.

I'm not dismissive of any phenomena, I've just yet to see any evidence above the anecdotal/subjective. The simple fact that I'm informed about the 'paranormal' is evidence of my interest, not some need to disprove it all. I used to be fascinated too.

Most people have actually ignored your question.

You asked about MODERN humans.  That would indeed be Homo Habilis or Erectus... The branching of the evolutionary tree means that other species with almost identical DNA to us such as the chimpanzee means we should not interpret proximity as being the same as recent ancestor.

After all.. we have many genes the same as a cabbage!

And for those who doubt the apes and us have a common (and recent ancestor)... just look at one of the recent photos of a baby gorilla who has been orphaned.  It has eyes, a nose, mouth, limbs and general configuration the same as we do. Most of all though... look at the way they hold on to the human as they would their mothers.... and look at this photo...

The baby is looking up at its keeper in EXACTLY the same way a human baby looks at its mother. We, with our supposed intellect debate the point.. but that little creature KNOWS the answer.

Given that DNA is such a fundamental component of what and who we are, that DNA would have to have come form the aliens if indeed, they were to blame. BUT... the simplest of organisms... the virus... has RNA, not DNA.  However, some of its bases (three of them) are the same as those in DNA and some viruses have double stranded RNA. SO... the aliens would have to have been viruses, and that of course, is entirely possible!  But they could never have flown a flying saucer!!!

As for those who blindly answer "God" and then give each other many 'thumbs up'.... your unwillingness to enter into intellectual debate means you will never persuade those who do not think the same as you... and I **DO** believe in God.  More to the point, you will never understand God yourselves because you are so firmly stuck  in a 'model' of God that is simplistic and limited to your own understanding and imagination.  How could a God of infinity be bound by simple world-views that try to shoe-horn Him/Her/It into such a limitation?

There is no incompatibility between genetic evolution and God.. even though so many people seem intent on insisting that there is. So when someone asks a sensible question like this.. try, for once, to dignify it with an answer borne of thoughtfulness rather than dogma.
