Where do morel mushrooms grow?

Ok ive been looking just about everywhere and cant find any. What kind of stuff do they usually grow by?

  1. Get this. they grow underground in hollows. The morel farmers use PIGS to sniff them out. The pigs will smell them and start hoofing at the ground above them. the farmer or "hunter" digs where the pig pointed to and there you have it. This is why they are so bloody expensive!!!

    they grow in manure.

  3. First off..they aren't hunted up by pigs. That's truffles. Morels love to be damp. That is one of the reasons people go hunting them the day after it has rained. They tend to pop up overnight. Look under dead or fallen trees. Under bushes and brambles. Near a water source like creeks and small ponds. If an area smells like damp leaves?! You're  in the neighborhood.
