Question:

Where do most exchange students that go to Barcelona, stay at if you don't go to a boarding school?

It would be cool if I could have a couple options and know the locations of each of them! Thank you.

It sort of depends on your age, and, as you say, the type of school you go to.  Someone recently mentioned Dormitories...I don't know, but I never saw a dormitory, not like the ones we have in the US, in Spain.  (They were talking about university).   And I was under the impression that's true throughout Europe.  There are Residencias...privately run boarding houses, in Spain, and hostales, and hotels (residence type) and apartments.

    I would suggest you stay away from the Ramblas, and Para lel, noisy and somewhat dicey.  And Raval looked a little seedy, at least the bit that I walked through.

    If you are with any sort of University program, they should give you a list of places they recommend, that are in safe neighborhoods and near the school.  If you are on your own, I hope you find something safe and comfortable, and not too expensive.
