Where do most preps go to school: Prep School or Boarding School?

It depends upon the country and family traditions.

If kid is from old money - boarding school.  If kid is growing up in Europe - boarding school.  If kid is growing up in America w/ upper middle class or newly rich parents - prep school.   If kid has parents who are overwhelmed and have money regardless of background - boarding school.  If parents adore child and get enough of him/her - prep school.   If kid a real trouble maker or parents can't stand them - boarding school.

Basically - each family chooses what fits them.....Each kid in either is there for education and their parents perception of where they should be.
