Where do people get the idea that the mad idea that the Moors were black?

As I've seen a lot of Egyptian drawings of North Africans (called Libyans) circa 3000 BC, and some of them look whiter than I do.

i'm not sure, although it could just be a stupid idea just because they're from africa...or it might be in reference to the colour of their hair...
