Some people in my family say that me and my mother have big Irish heads. Where in the world does that come from??

I am not being facetious, I would really like to know.

  1. Maybe they mean it as a figure of speech.  We always tease people that get compliments that their head will get so big they can't stand up.

  2. Thats really weird because me and my sister are irish and people used to call my sister big head, weird, and they meant physically big, interesting that that could be an irish trait!!  PS i never thought my sisters head was big but a bunch of people did

  3. First time I ever heard that phrase ha ha!

I don't think it means anything...that thought never once crossed my head. Its not a known phrase over here though. Personally, the only time I have heard "Big Head" mentioned was as a referral to over-confident people...popular saying over here!

Sorry I could not help you more!

  4. It's to hold our larger than average brains.

  5. I didn't think we had big heads, I thought we had 'big spud eating heads?' Maybe I'm wrong.

And before anyone slates me, I'm Irish and have just measured the circumferance (sp?) of my head and IT IS signifantly larger than my Spanish/French/American's cousin's head. LOl.

  6. They are talking about our cabbages.

(boiled bacon and cabbage  yum.. yum!)

  7. i have no idea!

although to be perfectly honest, i am the wrong person to ask, my head is a little unusually big for the rest of my body!!!ahah!
