Where do people get their inspiration from when making a piece of jewelry?

I get mines from music but Im just a beginner and would like to know more where others get them from.

Well if yours is from music, then i would say your

using a lot of your Imagination ?

So with others, it could be the objects around them,

or using their imagination, come up with say different

things then someone else.  

Say looking at a beautiful tree and outdoor area will

inspire different things from different people.

I love designing from nature, you know, organic shapes.

But geometric patterns can also look really cool. I try to do my own thing, and I don't go for commercial, copyrighted things. Like, for instance, a peace sign. It's not very creative. Sometimes, just drawing randomness works really well.

I'll assume this is for metal working jewelery, and not beading.

where does any artist find their inspiration?

The inspiration for jewelry design can come from just as many places as any other art. Anything: pretty, ugly, tangible, mystical, fanciful, big, small... can be a source of inspiration.

I have known a lot of inspiring artists in my experience, but the most groundbreaking and exciting work was usually uniquely simple in its inspiration. An example might be a body of work that focused on the symbolism and imagery of playing cards. Or overheard conversations. A piece that attempted to illustrate the concept of "time." a personal favorite was the piece regarding "artifacts," and the concept of remnants.

each of these ideas could come from everyday experience, memory, imagination, or luck. The most important aspect of becoming inspired is capturing this creative process--get in the habit of using a journal to write and draw and record all the tiny ideas that roll around in your head: every one has the possibility to be the seed that develops into a great body of artworks.
