  1. The Giver is a good book, and released as it is used in the book means euthanasia.

The book gave me a few chills when I pre-read it.

I pre-read books to see if they are appropriate for each child's reading level, and understanding before I put them on the children's shelf.

If you did not understand what the book was about, try reading it again, or wait a while before reading it again.

We discuss the books, but the children have also has a literary club where they all read the book, and came together to discuss them; this is a great way to gain a better understanding, and listen to other view points.

I would recommend reading all three The Giver (1), Gathering Blue (2), and Messenger (3).

Gathering Blue, and Messenger are  companion books to the Giver.

  2. Release it's kind of a clue they die when they get released they are injected with a needle full of drugs and they die in about a minute. That's why they mostly talk about release when they are speaking about old people it's so people don't take their own lives and don't really have a choice.

  3. When I first saw your question I assumed you meant where do people go when they get released from gaol!

I've never read the book; never heard of it but reading the answers here, I don't reckon my mum'd let me read it anyway!

  4. I'm not sure I understand you question

released from where or what ??

  5. Have you read the whole book? It should be pretty clear if you've read the whole book. Jonas finds out what it means the deeper he gets into his training.
