  1. 1. Dropped off by bus,

    2. In da booth,

    3. The booth has no floor.

  2. Most toll booths have underground passages to allow the workers to come and go safely .Other than that I dont know.Good question!

  3. Most toll booths have an office building sitting off to the side, with parking and rest facilities.  Operators get regular breaks (these are government employees, after all!) to take care of personal needs and eating.  If you see two booths, there are at least 3 operators working.  They rotate out and sometimes there are underground walkways, but most of the time, the operators just cross traffic while drivers are paying the toll.  This is why manned booths are in the outside lanes, so operators don't have to cross in front of exact change drivers.

  4. I saw on telly that the workers on the Humber toll bridge near Hull have a rest-room/canteen area for meal breaks...I'd imagine all large bridges like those will have similar arrangements.

On the Warburton Bridge over the Manchester Ship Canal..the toll taker uses the local pub.(theres no barriers and if you time it right or after 8pm you dont have to pay!).

  5. At the I-95 Ft. McHenry Tunnel toll plaza in Baltimore (and the I-95 Susquehanna Bridge crossing), the booths are big enough to have restrooms - the toll collector shuts down the lane when he/she goes to the bathroom and reopens the lane when she's finished.  Toll collectors walk through passages behind the toll booth to reach the administrative offices; there are no underground passages to my knowledge.

  6. They are bussed to and from work, they have canteens and toilets available on site

  7. ive often wondered that my self will be great to find out

  8. The only toll bridge I have used regularly is near Reading, the guy that usually works there walks to work, and probably walks home to use the toilet, and maybe go to lunch

  9. they dont
