I'm looking for about 10 pill bugs for my AP Bio class, and am having trouble finding any. I've searched under rocks where the ground is moist, and tried digging under the dry dirt to reach the moist dirt. Would the time of the day also matter, because I was looking at around 1-2 p.m.

~thanks

  1. Try going to a city park and look around there under rocks or mulch.  They will be right below the surface to stay cool and tend to be where there is dead debris (they feed off of dead organic material).  Here in AZ I found a bunch of them yesterday when I moved several five-gallon pots to a new location.

  2. that's the driest/hottest time of day. Try hosing your grassy part of your lawn and wait a few minutes and look in the grass. Especially near your water meter and sewer clean out valve. Night time and early morning are good times because they're the coolest times of the day. Hope this helps some.
