Female - I keep my shoes in the front hall closet and put them on as I go out the door.  My family and I rarely wear shoes inside of our house.  I also don't have that many pairs of shoes.  I have large feet and purchasing shoes to fit me is very expensive, so I have a few very nice pairs that go with lots of stuff.

i have a shoe rack under neath my clothes than hang from my closet. this keeps them out of the way. A big problem we have at home with 4 kids is that no one puts their shoes away and we have 12 pairs of shoes at the front door! ( we dont wear shoes indoors). Well, Ive just come up with the plan to either put a huge cardboard box in the coat closet and have them put their shoes there, OR get a shoe rack and put it in the garage entry area.

In the closet. I have a shoe rack that hangs over the door with about 30 slots for shoes.
