Question:

Where do the SPEED commentators broadcast F-1 from?

I know that everyone uses the FIA/world feed to receive the video and replays from Formula 1 races, but from where do Bob Varsha and crew broadcast?

I know that Peter Windsor is in person at the track, but I would think that they main broadcast is done in the United States (where the commentators live.)

Also...do they have control over some replays (like coming back from commercial break,) or are they at the mercy of the feed?

  1. They are in the Speed studios, I believe in Charlotte, NC.

Limited replays I believe. The world feed does not take commercial breaks so if something happens while they are in commercial they will show it.

  2. I only watch friday practice on Speed since our local networks don't have it, but from that, I get the impression they are doing it from the studio's.  I guess since F1 isn't as big in the US as in other countries, the network budget only allows for one of them to travel to the actual races.

All networks get the same feed but each network can choose when and how many times during the race they go to commercial.
