Where do the gnats come come from and how do u get rid of them?

Gnats can come from many sources, garbage, chicken houses, other animal pens.  If you have a garbage can inside your house, you need to make sure you rinse out cans, rinse off meat trays,before you throw them away.  Unless you have daily garbage pick up or a waste disposal unit you need to store food waste in an old refrigerator or freezer or place it in a plastic grocery bag and put it in the freezer until garbage day. That stuff in a garbage can is just going to draw gnats as well as smell bad. Use fly spray to get rid of them. Air freshener to kill the odor.  :)

Along with the other helpful tips you've already received, gnats may also be drawn to your garbage disposal if you have one and also to your trash compactor.

And speaking of garbage disposals.. once I was in an apartment directly above the chamber of commerce office downtown San Diego and I put some soup which had celery in it down the disposal and it clogged it up and the line burst. It went down through the ceiling of the office below and drenched the scale model of San Diego in beef, celery, potatoes & such. I had also poured in gone-over milk, shrimp and scallops and some stale Fruit Loops. They were NOT pleased.

Anyway, there's that. =)

In your house?  They are coming from your plants!  You are over watering them!  Give them time to dry out between waterings and the gnats will die!

They're caused by a lot of things but the easiest solution is buy a trap from Target. They hang up are see through and look nice. Put a bit of beer in it to attract them. They fly in can't find their way out and fly until they die. Works for fruit flies and other flying insects, in the house, also.
