  1. Meteorologists head to the nearest porch or window during a tornado.  Most (but not all) are smart enough to seek appropriate shelter when danger become imminent.

  2. Most can stay on the air because they're in the city broadcasing the news, but when a tornado hits a city it can be devestating. They will usually take shelter presumably to the lowest floor. Most of the buildings, like skyscrapers are a lot stronger than you typical house so it can withstand wind that is over 100 mph. The only problem is the flying debris, it just causes absolute mayhem on buildings.

  3. nope. they go take cover. i have only seen this once though (downtown ft. worth tornado of 2000), they only leave if they are absolutely going to get hit. the anchors announced that they had to leave to take cover and the screen went black and a scroll was running across the bottom of the screen keeping everyone watching updated.

but by "weather people" if you mean the people that issue the wanrings and track the storm, they are usually not in the same city as the tornado. i live in dallas, TX but the national weather service issues warnings from norman, OK.

  4. i hope they are in a shelter. i think they would just have a computerized warning flash on the tv screens and they take cover underground and have instruments there so they can deliver forecasts from outside radars.
