  1. They breed them especially.  If you go through the country side in Spain, you find huge fields filled with bulls.

  2. They are bred specially for bullfighting. Their one days work in life will be in the ring at a bullfight. They are pampered beasts. They live a life of complete luxury until that fateful day. There are many farms in Andalucia that breed these bulls.

Bullfighting is slowly dying out. There are many places in Spain that don´t have bullfights and in some provinces it is illegal. I have never seen a bullfight even though I live in Spain. It is a cruel end to a majestic beast.

I have seen equally brutal acts towards animals in Europe (the UK included) and North America. Many would like bullfighting stopped immediately. That being the case, why not ban all sport that kills animals for fun or pleasure.

  4. There are farms specifically to raise these bulls.  They get fed the best food and basically given all the pampering until their final day.

When I lived in Spain I never went to a bull fight - I don't agree with it - but its the culture.

  5. they are bred specially in ranches

  6. In much the same way that stud farms operate in hores racing there are certain "ganaderias" in Spain that are dedicated to producing bulls for bullfights.

The bull normally has "4 years and a spring feed" before going off to the ring to be killed.

The breeders have their own brands and markings (similar to cattle ranches) and undertake a number of risks and responsibilities during the animals development. For example the animals are grazed in mountainous terrain on fresh pastures to develop muscle and bone. However if an animal should break a leg (hazardous terrain) there´s no way the bull could be sold.

I´ve a page about bullfighting on my site here: http://www.madrid-guide-spain.com/madrid... if you´re interested in reading a little more on the subject.

  7. The Bullevard.

Edit. Seriously, the rings owners probably contract with ranchers, etc., to breed bulls for that purpose, so it would vary.
