Where do they put prams/strollers/pushchair... in an airplane? Do they go with the luggages or with passengers?

I soon will be travelling by plane for the first time with a baby stroller (I previously used a carrier, but my son no longer fits any carrier), what should I do with the stroller?

And btw, should 9-10 months old still sling-able (wear-able)? Because mine does not look comfortable being put in a sling/carrier anymore...

Thanks.

  1. I can't answer to the stroller question but many sling/carriers do work for up to 35 pounds - you can do the hip or back carry.

Try the maya wrap, it is adjustable and works up to 35 pounds.

  2. in the over thingys or in the plain (botom

  3. If it's an umbrella or lightweight stroller you can gate check it and get a ticket from the check in counter so they will put it under the plane. If it is too big they will make you check it with the luggage.

  4. You push the stroller right up to the gate and they gate check it for you. Meaning it's stowed underneath with the luggage and is waiting for you when you get off the plane.

I suppose it depends on how big your baby is as far as the sling goes. If they don't look comfortable or are NOT comfortable in it then don't use it.

  5. Im going on holidays with my newborn who will be then 10 weeks the buggy stroller can be brought to the door of the plane but the car seat that slots on top has to be checked in.Some airlines let families with buggies board first with wheelchairs

  6. At check-in they will check in your buggy but you are allowed to keep it until you board the plane, they will take it from you when you reach the the door or if you actually go onto the runway when you reach the steps they take it from you and store it with the luggage, but at the other end you have to get it from the carousel but it will come off first.

  7. yes they put it under plain with luggage but make sure its not an expensive buggy coz they get broke so easy as did mine.lol

  8. They get folded up and put in the luggage, and no they wouldnt still be in a sling-able :)

also while the pram is in the luggage, if your child is below the age of 2 they sit on your knee for the journey.

  9. you a find some strollers that found up in to a bag they can go on as hand luggage

  10. the stroller will go with your cases. You will have to carry your child on board, you may get a doodie seat belt that fits onto yours so they sit on your lap for take off and landing.

  11. You can take a stroller up to the gate and then check it right before you board the plane. It helps if you have a cheapy umbrella stroller to make it easier to check and to make it less valuable to you if it gets damaged during the flight.

Yes, older babies can still be slingable. We didn't get our sling until my son was 10 months old. We can wear him in a hip, front, or back carry pretty comfortably, though a front carry doesn't last for too long because he tries to dive down if he gets distracted. He's 16 months now and does great in his sling. I don't have a picture of him in his sling, but here are a couple of toddlers in slings. I know yours isn't a toddler yet, but I'm betting he's close. The first is a ring sling and the second a pouch sling.
