  1. I go to Punta Rusia and Montecristi so that I don't have to look at white people wearing hotel wristbands.

  2. There are several tourist places in the DR and it all depends on the type of tourism you want to do. We have it all basically, we have a mini desert in the south called “Dunas de Baní” with an amazing beach called “Salinas”. Also in the south you will have “Barahona” city with natural untouched rivers going into nice surfing beaches. You will also find big relax Resorts in Punta Cana and Bavaro in the East, while on the North part of the island you will find Resorts with so much outside/city activities in where is called “Puerto Plata” city. If you want to experience the country or high mountains atmosphere Puerto Plata, Pico Duarte, La Vega, Samana will be the places to go. Also Samana city specifically “Las Terrenas” is a hidden place where you will have the fun of your life, Resorts are the best and you can easily without no fear walk the little town of Las Terrenas and experience the normal life in the DR. No matter where you go the people are very welcoming so I’m sure will love to come back.

  3. DO THE OUTBACK SAFARI TOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...  You will not regret it!!! It is so much fun and worth every single penny you spend!!! Trust me!! And it's fun for all ages...we were in a group with people aged 15,17,17,18,18,20,20,22,29,43 and 45 and EVERYONE loved every minute of it!!!

  4. Hi Mandi,

First of all there are two kind of 'tourist" the one who goes to an "all inclusive hotel/resort" and never leave the hotel and once back home they say: "I've been to the Dominican Republic and I loved it" but don't know s..t about the country they "visited"! ( Punta Cana/Bavaro)

The others are the real tourist, who discover the region and this by tours or private tours (like I organize). They spend also some time on the beach, but when they are home they are sure to know more than the first kind of tourists! So here in this country their is so much to see and to discover!! We have everything here from the highest point to the lowest point of the Caribbean, we have a desert, we even have a pyramid, Eco tourism is very good here, visiting Santo Domingo (capital), visiting La Isabela (the beginning of the new world) and, and, and....... Of course all depending also where you will stay during your visit to this beautiful country.

Mainly there are 3 major spots for tourists : Puerto Plata for people who want to discover the country, Punta Cana for people who don't want to go out of the hotels, Juan Dolio is OK but not much to do and isolated from Santo Domingo by 70 miles distance. I hope this gave you an general idea.

    Happy to help you

    Happy Feert

  5. I've been in Punta Cana, but I don't like it because it is to isolated from everything, OK the hotels are nice, but you dont go to a other country to stay in your hotel no? So I went later to Puerto Plata and that is much, much better!!! The hotels are the same as in Punta Cana but outside there is life ! So much to see and to discover!! And town is about 10 min from the majority of the hotels.
