Where do u put the chuck key to remove a drill bit?

I have a skill electric drill and I need to change the bit but I can't figure out where to put the chuck key or whatever they call it, I don't see a hole or anything. I have never done this b4!

  1. If you have a smaller Skill drill it probably doesn't use a chuck key. Just turn the chuck with your hand. There should be arrows on the chuck of the drill saying which way to turn.


  2. no key the action you need is to give the thing with the bit in it a Chinese burn clench with one hand and twist with the other

  3. Some drills don't have holes...you loosen/tighten by hand.

  4. the chuck key goes into the hole on the chuck. there should be two or three holes you can use. in case you didn't know, the chuck is at the end of the drill where the bit fits in. put the tip of the key in the hole and let the gears of the key and chuck line up. turn counter clockwise to loosen the chuck and remove the bit.  reverse the proceedure to install a different bit.....to speed things up, once the chuck is loose, you can turn it by hand without the key if you need to open it up further for a bigger drill bit.
