My wife and I are looking to adopt a child from the Philippines and cant find an agency in Nevada that handles international adoptions from the Philippines. Can someone help? I may go with Holt International or Wide Horizons in Michagan. We would prefer to keep things local. What about agencies in Northern California?

  1. These questions amaze me.  I'd like a Philippine baby, please.  Like saying, I'd like to go out for Italian tonight.

Good, Lord.  Why not look into foster care!?

  2. Have you tried contacting any local agencies that specialize in International Adoptions?  They may have other offices that they work with that specialize in adoptions from the Philippines if they do not themselves.  Another option may be to use the link below (at the bottom of this page) for the Philippines site of Y!A.  Someone there might also have an agency that they can suggest.

    Good luck to you.

  3. holt int'l....ahhh, what a wonderful reputation.  taking money and telling lies.

but then, that's what adoption is all about!

must be a very fulfilling thing to rip apart a childs life!  awesome!

  4. KIndly advise you to ask the Philippine Embassy for sure.

  5. Check out ICAB (Intercountry Adoption Board) website.  All Philippine intercountry adoptions have to go through them.  They have a list of adoption agencies that they deal with all over the world including the U.S.  Here is the link.

Just so you know, they do give preferences to those with Filipino background.  They also have criteria regarding age, no. of years married, religion and you are required to see a psychologist.  Good Luck.

  6. I'm guessing that you have decided on Philippine adoption first and are looking for an agency second because you are Filipino...  that will be a help because when I looked into it, they told me I would get a shorter wait since I'm part Filipina.

Back then, I looked into a program by Catholic Charities, which placed  primarily boys six years and older - those most in need of homes.  I mention them because Catholic Charities might operate in your state.

I've put a link below that lists several agencies that work in the Philippines.
