  1. I could not find one that I liked. So, I'm starting one.

    Oh, bother.

  2. Contact your State Home School Association.

These often keep a list of local coordinators who can let you know what is available in your area, and who to call for further information on the activities, classes/coop's you may be interested.

  3. Try looking for a large group first and then when you find that start talking to people in the group for smaller ones inside of it. If you are like me and live in a rural area it's harder to find them. I have to drive over an hour to get to the nearest one.

  4. I live in Pennsylvania.  The PA Department of Education posts a lot of national and regional homeschool groups onlilne.  I found mine through a personal contact and through the local library, but ours is a larger group where they actually take classes taught by the parents and it meets at a church.  Good luck!

  5. You can start one of your own. We posted notices on library bulletin boards, book stores and other local public notice boards. After making contacts with other homeschoolers we just starting getting together informally at parks, the library etc. From there it grew and we now have a huge group, mostly through word of mouth.

I would start out looking on yahoogroups for a few homeschooing groups near you, and post to them.

Good luck, it takes effort from you, but doesn't anything worthwhile?
