  1. if you find one that supplies car seats and high chairs, let me know!  Your antenatal group/midwife/care provider should be able to tell you about any charities, government schemes or companies who provide free gifts / supplies.

  2. You don't say where you're from. If you're from the UK then as far as I know there isn't anywhere, but statistically on this site you'll probably be from the US in which case hopefully someone will provide you with some info. But just so you know - I had nothing when I fell pregnant, no job, no money, was just on my way to uni, I literally didnt have two pennies to rub together, but I went out and worked 70 hours a week until the end of my pregnancy which was knackering but I coped and I managed to buy it all. Unless you have some disability or real extenuating circumstances you're perfectly capable of doing the same. If you are really struggling to find stuff, try www.freecycle.org - as far as I know this is a worldwide site - I've never used it myself but loads of people I know have got decent second hand baby equipment from there. I just suggest you don't get a second hand car seat for obvious safety reasons, but you don't need to get a hugely expensive carseat, mine cost just under £40 and is sturdy, safe, comfortable and will last from birth to age 4. Good luck.

(edit: I forgot to explain - freecycle has regional forums where people advertise their second hand equipment, it can be for anything but it's great for baby stuff as there is obviously so much second hand gear being generated, and it's all for free you just have to be able to collect it unless you're lucky and find someone willing to drop it off for you. it sounds a bit too good to be true but it is generally people that don't need to make extra cash so can't be bothered to sell on ebay, but don't want to throw their stuff away. my friend got her pushchair, highchair, baby bath, and loads of other stuff from there all for free)

  3. here are a ton

  4. Contact your local United Way and they'll direct you to a charity.  Also, you can post a want on www.freecycle.org.

  5. you can probably call your local police department and find out how to get a carseat. i know here the police come up to walmart every so often and give them out to needy families.
