Where do you find out who lived in your house before you?

Depends where you live. In Australia we have the Lands Office where you check Title of Land. It is not a free service. In USA it is not a free service either.

  If you bought your house you should have a title to the house, often held by the people who did the legal stuff (solicitor, conveyancer) You can ask for a copy of that. If you do not own your house then it is not an easy thing to get information on. Privacy rules have made it difficult these days.

County assessor.  Whoever collects taxes on the property would have the records going back to when it was built.  Some may charge, they don't here.
