Where do you find the fuel filter on a 1997 F 350 7.3 LTR deisel?

on top of the engine you will see a large piece of black plastic that is held in place by 3 half in. bolts, remove them and the plastic, under that you will see a round black plastic cap, you can lay a s***w driver down flat over the top of it to unscrew it, under that will be the filter, one thing you might want to do is bleed the fuel out of it with the drain that removes water out of the canister before you unscrew it to keep the mess of fuel off the top of your engine.
