  1. I would personally suggest that if you're interested in performing experiments for the first time independently to consider purchasing a decent chemistry set, which comes with a supply of ingredients for experiments and a list of potential experiments which you could perform. Sets that I would recommend in particular (although they are pretty expensive - but so are retailed chemicals) are the Chem C3000 Chemistry set, the Chem C2000 Chemistry set, or the Smithsonian Chemistry set Microchem XM 3000. You can find all of these sets at http://www.discoverthis.com/chemistry.ht... . Alternatively if you wanted to purchase raw chemicals, they are generally expensive, you can purchase chemicals from some online chemical retailers, including http://www.advance-scientific.com/ , http://www.aslchem.com/indexhome.htm , or you can browse through a large list of chemical retailers on this site - http://www.business.com/directory/chemic... . Hope this helps, I'm also interested in doing experiments at home, but haven't worked out a good non-flammable area yet in my new home. Good luck, Felix

  2. Buy them at factories or dealers or wholesellers....

  3. Buy them from the school. They get them from merck and other chemical companies.
