  1. My girlfriend has told me Marks and Spencers is the best

  2. debanam sand marks and spencers do it for free!

  3. You can go to any lingerie shop or department store that has a lingerie section. Though you'll get a more accurate size if you go to a seamstress. Being one myself, we know how to use tailors tape better than a sales associate that only has at most 30 minutes of training for bra fitting.

Also, to the comment above about adding 6 inches, this is completely incorrect. You'll end up with a bra band that is 1-3 sizes too big. You only add 4-5, 2-3 or no inches at all depending on the starting measurement of your torso.

Go to someone who specializes in fitting and making bras or corsets. They can measure you better than someone at a department store (this also includes Victoria's Secret because they don't use the correct method to measure you).

Also, zoggi's answer below me is incorrect. You have to add a certain amount, again depending on your torso size, to your band size in order to obtain the correct size. If I listened to that person's answer it would mean I would wear a 26I but that's just ridiculous, 28 is very, very snug on me to the point of discomfort. The story that person is talking about, about that system being developed when "bra's were in their infancy"...well, it's too bad because bras are still in their infancy and you have to add to what you measure at for your torso because that's how bras are made. Take for example a size 30 band. It measures about 2" smaller than the size ribcage it is made for which before adding measures 25-26". So you allow for those 2" of stretch in a bra and you have a band that is the exact size of your frame. Another thing to mention is where you are supposed to measure for your frame. If you measure under the b*****s then you HAVE to add a certain amount to this number. If you measure above the b*****s you DO NOT add anything at all, unless the number lands on a half mark you'd round up or down to the nearest whole even number. The reason for this is because, even with the straightest of shapes, the body naturally tapers as it goes towards the waist, so your ribcage is going to be much smaller than your high bust, this is just how our bodies are made. (Something else to add, I find it quite funny how the user below me has included FigLeaves in their bra info, when figleaves is one of those companies that adds either 4-5", this is contradictory to their answer)

  4. any underwear shop eg anne summers

  5. The best places to get fitted for a bra are Bravissimo, Rigby & Peller, Debenhams or John Lewis in the UK, or if you're in the US, I hear that Nordstrom's are good.

The standard measuring system that you often hear about, which requires you to add 4 or 5 inches to your under-bust measurement, does not work at all. It would put me at 34B or 34C, whereas I actually wear a 30F or 30FF. It is not uncommon to go for a bra fitting wearing a 36D and come out in a 32F. That is a drop of two band sizes, and an increase of one cup size.

The best way to estimate your bra size from your measurements is to take your under-bust/ribcage measurement, and round it to the nearest even number. This should be your band size. It's a bit more difficult to accurately calculate your cup size from your measurements. The best way to find out is to try some bras on. For example if you are wearing a 34C at the moment, and your under-bust measurement is 30 inches, then you'll probably need a 30DD. You need to go up by one cup size for every band size you go down, because the cups are sized relative to the band.

You might be surprised by the size you get - 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra, and most people are wearing a band at least one size too big. If everyone wore correctly fitting bras, the average woman would be in a 34DD.

You will be able to tell if you have the right band size when you can only just fasten it, but it is still comfortable. If you are able to comfortably fasten it on the tightest adjustment, it's too big.

The links listed below will explain in more detail how to tell if your bra fits:
