Where do you go for information on placing a loved one in a nursing home ,the legality's ?

my mother in law has Alzheimer's and is in the later stages and is driving my father in law crazy . if he keeps going it will probably kill him from the stress . we need to know the laws on what nursing homes and the government can put leans on . my father in law has a home and acreage that he needs to live in .

  1. Contact your local nursing homes.  They can advise you.


  2. There are so many regulations as to what assets are used in determining eligibility for assistance.

    Your best option would be to contact your local Agency on Aging,or similar name in your area and ask them,they deal with these questions all the time. That way you will know what assistance you might qualify for and where you stand financially.

    Having a loved one with Alzheimers is very hard,both mentally and physically. She is better off being in a facility that can monitor her and provide a safe environment.Alzheimers patients have been known to wander away from home and also can become very physically abusive to their care givers. It is a terrible disease to watch happen to your loved one.
