Where do you go to become a Paranormal investigator?

I’m no spring chicken but I have wanted to do this type of thing all my life, I have had a lot of experiences with the paranormal in my life, but being Catholic I’ve always though that type of thing was wrong until last night when I saw the Penn state Paranormal Society on A&E and they were saying that they were commissioned by the Catholic church and they are very spiritual. In my time that was looked down on and my personal experiences were taboo. I’m in my 30’s and need to start from the very bottom and I don’t know where to start or what sort of schooling I need for this. I’ve been drawn to this since I was a little girl, but was always shut down or shunned, but if the Catholic Church backs this type of thing that I can jump in right? I’m older than most collage kids, but I’m so ready to start doing what I’ve always wanted to do.

Where do I start? I live in Texas.

  2. First, most paranormal investigators do not charge for their services (it's not a paying job). Even the TAPS team have day time jobs and mostly investigate on weekends as I'm sure you noticed was the case with the team on the new Paranormal State show.

That said I have listed a link for you below that will assist you in finding a group near you that you could possibly join.

If you wish to discuss this further feel free to e-mail me.

  3. Anyone can do it.

  4. This site may be of some interest to you...

  5. Well for starters they are NOT commissioned by the Catholic Church or anyone else, total BS.  Cannot believe they even said that, they're a bunch of college students with nothing better to do.

If you want to do real scientific based investigation, google TAPS (Jason and Grant's paranormal society), their website has a ton of links on it for regional groups and I'm sure there's one in your state.

Also, Darknessradio.com sponsors weekend trips you can purchase a ghost hunt at famous haunted places like Eastern State Pen, the Queen Mary, etc, that will at least give you a taste of how it's done for not a lot of money.  They get a great crowd of experienced and dedicated ghosthunters who are doing it right, not a bunch of students pretending to know what they're talking about..... sorry, the show was AWFUL.

  6. I think you might be mistaken about the Church. They have not changed their views on the paranormal. That said, who cares do what you want. It's not a paying job, more of a hobby.Find some like-minded folks and start investigating.

  7. Almost no paranormal investigators do such things for pay, most of them finance thier investigations out of thier own pocket.

Education is not required, but it seems to help a lot if you have an imagination.

I could put a perfectly normal photo on the internet, and if i ask people if they see the spirit, i guarentee that some people will see something.

I haven't seen any investigators come up with any compelling evidence. Maybe you will find some, good luck.

All you need to do if find an allegedly haunted place and investigate it. Use cameras, video, tape recorders, whatever.

    Have fun
