  1. I live in New York, four hours northwest of New York City.  It is a good place to live.  We have many things to do, and the community seems small.  The Finger Lakes are beautiful.

  2. Actually I have lived in California, both the bay area and southern as well as Texas (I now live in Oregon).

If you're considering Texas, the only area of it I would suggest would be Austin.

It's a great city with TONS to do. Housing is still relatively affordable. Lake Travis is right there. If you like music, it'd DEFINITELY the place in Texas to live.

I, personally, would never live in Texas again. While the winters are mild, the summers are long, hot, and extremely humid. I'm also not a fan of tornadoes and hailstorms. Or fire ants.

There are areas outside the Dallas metroplex that are nice, but traffic is not very cooperative, especially if you live in one of the areas north of downtown Texas. They're working on a bypass loop for those living in the Frisco area, but I am not sure when that will be completed. Property taxes are high. The crime rate in Fort Worth is rising at an alarmingly fast rate.

I have a couple of really good friends who still live in the Dallas area, but they are leaving the state as soon as they find jobs elsewhere.

I have literally lived all over the country, and in some places more than once. And I can safely say if I ever end up leaving Oregon, it will not be by choice. I love it here (Eugene). I'm a little more than an hour from the coast, 2 hours from killer snowboarding, and in an awesome college town with tons to do (the McKenzie river runs through this area so you can boat, canoe, hike, raft, etc.), there are lakes all over.  We get all four seasons. Some people who aren't from here like to complain about the rain, but we don't get as much as Seattle or Portland. We have a number of technological (like software companies) and medical jobs here.

    And no sales tax.

  3. See KKK I already told you awhile back about Oregon now didn't I? Gotta come see it!  I also said that Texas sucks!l

    Portland! Portland! Portland!
