  1. Most live in Alexandria.

  2. Wherever you can..  I was talkjing to a friend a few days ago, who was stationed at the Pentagon.

Housing there is brutal!  Apartments near the pentagon are extremely tough to find, and cost  a fortune. You can finsd cheaper digs outside of the DC area if you don;t mind commuting 50 miles one way.

Since he is only going to be there a few weeks, he found an apartment in Baltrimore and commuteds by train.

  3. Anywhere in the VA-DC-MD corridor.

  4. Most likely off post, but if they don't think you are responsible enough then you will be stuffed in a random barracks room on the closest Air Force base.

  5. First, very few active duty enlisted work at the Pentagon, and especially lower enlisted.  And you would be looking a personnel specialties, finance, and some ITs.

If you are assigned there right out of tech school, you would most likely be living in the dorms at Andrews AFB.

As others have said, DC is a very expensive place to be stationed and not many people actually look forward to going there.  Obviously there are exceptions.

Andrews is a fully functioning AFB, with all of the services and career fields associated with that.
