he had the best strike rate for a bowler in test match cricket...beaten warne to number of wickets in almost all matches they played together but because of brilliance of warne his career was short..

so where do u place him in the list of all time spinners?

  1. He is top class spinner like Anil Kumble, Muthiah Muralidharan

  2. place him in front off sachin tendulkar

u sit at the corner of the ground and keep counting the change in strike rate

1 test match would be more than enough to place him with

    Nicky boje

  3. I dont really hold him in very high regards-Sorry if people dont agree but he is a whinger,he has in the past come out and saidhe has had to live in Warnie's shadow all of his career, thats why he was never given a chance to succeed..

Give me a break,if MacGilla gorilla was good enough,he would have over taken Warne as our no 1 spin bowlers,i think Brad Hogg was a lot better than Mac Gill, but that's my oppinion anyway...

All i can say is i hope his TV career is better than his cricket career....

  4. I place him as retired! But he was good in his day.

  5. @ non striker end. All bowlers bowl from non-striker end.

    LOL

  6. McGill might have good performances when warne and him playing together but all were in home conditions. If you compare players to international outings, warne has good records compared to all the best spinners of the world. McGill definitely is a good spinner and can be placed in the list of best spinners.

  7. All i wud say is... Shane warne spoiled his career...MacGill is one of those spinners who spins the ball well.... he knows wen 2 bowl a wrong one without the batsmen knowin tht he is actually bowling a wrong.... i wud regard him as a Aussie legendary spinner...

un4tunately... he cud'nt play lotta games... had he played as much as what warnie did.... im sure he wud hav taken arnd 800-900 wickets....

In the end... all i wud say is Australia missed a wonderful spinner-

    STUART MACGILL

  8. well surely he is one of the good spinners that australia has provided but as far as placing him is concerned well he can not placed in the catagory of all time greats like shane warne or anil kumble of murlidharan whom we can now call them greats,no doubt he is good bowler but surely not that much destructive so i will place him in the catagory of few good spinners that australia has provided

  9. less than Hoggie~

  10. IMO Strike-rate isn't a particularly important measure in Tests. Simply maths will show that a low SR means high economy rate when the bowling average is equal, MacGill concedes 0.24 RPO more than any other decent spinner in history.

As regards MacGill's place in history I think few non-Australians would place him in the top ten of all-time. Murali, Warne, Kumble, Rhodes, Underwood, Benaud, O'Reilly, Grimmett, Verity and Laker would be my top ten. SCGM would be in the next group alongside Gibbs, Bedi, Qadir, Saqlain, Lock and the Pre WW1 brigade - Peel, Briggs, Blythe and Trumble.

  11. Near Ian Salisbury, lmao, lol.

  12. with Anil Kumble
