I've tried freewebs.com but the site keeps crashing!

I use Freewebs and it works perfectly. You should try Geocities of have it in a blogform and go on Blogspot.

try orange website builder, website.orange.co.uk . I don't know what you wrote above but this is free to use and you can choose your own template etc. Try it out! I created http://www.visitingbelfast.com with it!
