I'm from the state of San Luis potosi, but I have to admit   the state of Jalisco is much better in any ways, it has everything anyone could look for  on a trip.

tequila, mariachi, guadalajara city, puerto vallarta,  the towns located at the highs of the state.

it is awesome.

Everyone I know goes to Cabo, its cheaper then some places and I heard a lot of fun, sorry I've only been to Cancun

I agree, Cabo is the place to go.  I've been going for years, I love it there!

If you don't want any beaches and want to see colonial Mexico, you should try Zacatecas, Oaxaca, Taxco, San Miguel de Allende.  The are terrific places and the people are very nice.
