We already ask the store manager why most of their canned goods/kids drinks etc. has no expiration but she did not provide an answer and untl today hasn't changed? We used to buy chocolate milk which doesn't really last long until we went on vacation and came back when my kid ask for her drink and pour it in a glass and its bad so i looked for the expiration date and it has none when we got back there the next time i noticed that a lot of their items doesn't have this.

  1. trading standards

  2. The grocery store is buying the goods from all types of different companies.

Many items, especially canned, have a code rather than a date. The code '2167...' means it was canned on the 216th day of 2007. Other numbers indicate time of day, shift it was canned, etc..

You can contact the companies for answers. The grocery store really isn't the one to blame(usually). I'm surprised the manager didn't have an answer for you, or at least given you some information so you felt better about buying her products.

  3. I think that your best bet would be to email or write to your local consumers commission. Here in Australia that's the accc I'm not sure but I think it stands for The Australian consumers commission committee. Since I don't know yours, your phone book should tell you. Ring, write, email tell them whats going on I know that here in Aus that's illegal

  4. You can call the board of Health I think or Osha I do not have the numbers but I think they should be able to help you

  5. local health dept

  6. Most canned food has no expiration date because, in theory, it is edible indefinitely. If anything they have a 'best before' date.
