  1. Everywhere.  just about every concept we have fits into a tree of concepts based on what it is and what it isn't.

    Look at vehicles.  You have sparate categories called "airplanes" for the winged fliers, "helicopters" for the rotary wing craft, "cars" for big-roofed 4-wheel land rovers, etc.  These subdivide, like fighter aircraft vs. passenger or cargo planes, and further, like into F-16s vs. Migs, and like standard transmission cars vs. automatic transmission cars, etc.

    Look at clothes.  You could classify underwear vs. outerwear; tops vs. bottoms, and all the subdivisions, like hosiery, jeans, slacks, etc. etc.  

    The classification of living organisms might be the best example, but the list of lists goes on and on.  Sciences.  Building types.  Chemicals.    ...     ....     ...
