  1. Unlike the Japanese Americans who survived the camps there is no one alive that suffered from Slavery to offer reparations to.

  2. Honestly, I feel the same way that most people feel that reparations for black slavery should affect more than just African-Americans. There were Abolitionists that fought for and legislated for the freedom of the slaves and soldiers that fought for the same cause.

My own father received reparations for being a Japanese- American interned during WWII from the Civil Liberties Act of 1988. He never asked for it, nor would he have ever expected it.

  3. Is this the tired argument for slave reparations again.  Let me put it this way I never personally owned a slave, and if you never personally where a slave what reparation do you think you are entitled to collect and from whom?

Currently I see that we are so concerned about the rights on the minority that we allow them to get away with thing we as the majority would never be allowed to do.

Don't get me wrong but equal rights means just that equal rights, not special advantages for this group or that group.

  4. When they include reparation for those white soldiers that gave their lives to free the blacks, and when they charge the blacks in Africa for selling their brothers, I'll consider supporting it.

Who is going to pay, and pay to whom.

The English took may grandparent property in Ireland, they took their money, and tried to take the dignity,  they stole my parents childhood, they definetly stole their dignity.

They came to this country so they could be free, not so their children could pay for something they had nothing to do with.

  5. Although I think that it's a completely bogus and esssentially BS issue I'll agree to it under one  condition and one condition only :

That once the reparations are paid the debt is stamped  "Paid in Full " and as such no further claims can ever be made on it

    Deal ?Or No Deal ?

  6. I think that repartations should only be done if the circumstance is legitmiate.  For example, I know that some African Americans are asking for reparations to slavery.  I'm not saying that slavery was good because it was a horrible thing indeed.  However if you are living in today where you have better opportunities and you are not being held a slave against your will you shouldn't get any money for that.  I know that many will say that it was their ancestors who were slaves, yes it was them, but to ask in this day and age isn't correct.  You are owed nothing because you didn't have to go through it like they did.  So yes slavery was a terrible thing, but there should be no repartations because it was the slaves that went through it not people living today.

  7. i am against it for all purposes. if you are refering to the slavery issue in the US then i think there is only one thing we should offer. If someone feels they have been deprived due to the fact they were broguht here, or sold here by their tribes in Africa, then we should grant them one way tickets to the african country of their choice.

  8. I am against it.  Taxpayers today should not be responsible for the behavior of people 200 years ago.

  9. If you mean reparations to blacks for slavery, then here

    is where I stand...

It was the PORTUGUESE who came up with bringing

black slaves to the New World (after smallpox had killed

off all the Indians.) I'm not of Portuguese ancestry, so I

don't owe blacks a *%$#ing thing. (Maybe blacks should

demand reparations from the Portuguese government.

Being left-wing moonbat Europeans, I'll bet they'd pony up!)

ALSO - men wore TIGHTS back when black slavery was

invented. I ain't paying the bills of ANY man who ran

    around in tights, 'NUFF SAID!!!

  10. There is are way too many wrongs to be repayed! And it wont buy you forgiveness from the people who have been wronged.

  11. For Black america? Sure. Although I would extend that treatment to all who have suffered financially and otherwise. This country was largely built from the work of the poor and underprivileged. The wealthy folks owe them a great debt.

Even if you feel that they don't "deserve" it, reparation could bring and promote more equality and therefore more democracy, thereby increasing living standards for all and lowering rates of crime and other social ills.

However the problem of corporate crime, the worst kind, would remain. This is what made reparations necessary in the first place.

  12. I agree with STUNG4EVER. If you're gonna give reparations to one group of people who have been wronged in the past then you need to give it to all the races and ethnicities who have been wronged in the past. That includes the Irish, the Japanese (those living in America at the time of ww2 were put into camps),the American Indians etc. If the plan is to give reparations to only one group of people then that in itsself is a form of discrimination.

IMO,with groups like The United N egro College Fund, The NAACP and other groups who are for the benefit of minorities and minorities only, reparations have already been paid just by allowing these segregated groups to exhist.

  13. It's a black hole (hey that's not bad...haha), a slippery slope. The blacks who want reparations should decide if they want to live in America or Africa, if they want to stay here they can if they don't I wouldn't mind paying to help relocate them back to africa.

  14. reparations for what?

  15. If I did something to someone I will make my own reparations.  Other than that they can go pound sand in a rat hole.  This country does not owe anyone for anything that happened before any of us were born.

  16. To who?

    For what?

  17. Until I get reparations from Rome for persecuting my German ancestors, and England & America for persecuting my Irish ancestors, no.

  18. Do you mean U.S. reparations for conducting a war in Vietnam to put pressure China and the Soviet Union?

  19. I hate to be this blunt, but it's called welfare.  For those who just can't get it together even though they live in the land of opportunity.  Blaming shortcomings on slavery is as stupid as blaming my great great great great Grandfather for my financial situation today. (And to clarify, I include ALL races on welfare)  IGNORANCE is why racism exists.  There is an instilled intolerance for "differences" in people in general whether talking religion, politics, or race.  The answers to this question undoubtedly prove my point.  There is even an edge of racism to my answer, but I can admit that. If we had to pay reparations to all that were wronged, This country would be bankrupt 20x over!

  20. Reparations should come from companies that DIRECTLY BENEFITTED from the SLAVE TRADE.  Example....AETNA, the insurance company, benefitted from the slave trade by writing insurance policies on slaves for owners, similar to someone insuring their horse, house, or cattle.  Dirty business, and it is still in existence.
