Question:

Where do you suggest I donate my old MP3 player?

I have an older MP3 player (not an iPod) that I'd like to donate to charity (not an individual). I'm wondering if there is some notable charity that accepts items like this (I have other electronic devices that I'm not using too).

  1. why not stick them in the mail to an orphanage, or a shelter for abused women and children?

  2. can always send a care package to sailors or troops overseas.

  3. If you donate it to a group--say a children's home--it will have to be shared among the children, a difficult thing.  Not a bad idea, but the logistics of the caregivers having to manage who has it when, someone trying to steal it, sell it, etc. are crazy.  You could donate it to a nearby school to be raffled off as a fundraiser for the school or for the school to give away as a prize for something.  You could also donate it to an organization that sells items donated for funds to operate (National Kidney Foundation, Goodwill, etc.).  It's a good idea; I wish more people would think of doing things like that!
