  1. I think it's popular in both countries, cricket was dieng down in England a few years back but it's getting popular again after they've won the ashes in 2005...  her ein austrlaia it'll always be popular it's such a great game during summer...

I think Vaughan's captaincy lifted the popularity of cricket in england again..  Michael has got what it takes, sort of like Douglas jardine determination but only a more gentleman and more tactical way and he is blesses to have bowlers like sidebottom, Anderson and others.

  2. Its really hard to tell I still remember in Ashes English crowd took their umbrellas out showing that it was raining so stop the play and Aussie fans took off their shirt that its a bright sunshiny day. What a craze.

But I will say Australia because England is very much into soccer . But I can be wrong a person who has lived in both the countries can tell the best

  3. Focus of England has shifted to football.

The 2 do go crazy about the Ashes ; that is all for Eng.

Cricket is perhaps more popular in Aust.

  4. cricket , originated by the english has football fever more than cricket. you have many schools teaching football in england.

australia has  aussie rules football as their main favourate sport.

cricket is most popular in the indian subcontinent ( india, pakistan, srilanka , bangladesh) thats the reason subcontinent could manupulate the world cup taking place to their own advantage.

  5. England

Cricket is the 2nd most popular sport in England behind football. In 2005 6 or 7 million people watched the Ashes!! This was around 60% of the audience watching tv at the time. England has over 50 million people living in here! most people in England are sports mad, there are thousands of cricket clubs in England!! many more than Australia! Lastly England fans fill each and every stadium they play at.

  6. I think Australia.  I mean, come on, the have a reason to love their cricket, their team is the BEST in the world!

I think England focuses a lot on soccer as well, which costs cricket a lot of fans and popularity.

  7. England has way more fans when we're playing well. However, most only really care if we're doing well - Australia has more loyal 'hardcore' fans.

  8. I think the English are more into Test Crikcet rather than One day Cricket.... they don't even care that they haven't won the World Cup ...... they just care about their rivalry with the Aussies ( The Ashes ) and nothing .......

I think Cricket is more popular in Australia as they are the world champions....... they've got more star power in their team........

  9. I think its Australia!

  10. England

  11. Australia.   England are more into soccer than cricket.   Mind you,  it seemed like the whole of England went nuts when they won the Ashes.   But then it was back to normal when they lost it again!

  12. If you're talking actual numbers it would be England of course, they have a much larger population.

Per ca pita however I believe it would have to be Australia. More children play junior cricket than any other junior sport in Australia, closely followed by soccer.

Our state competition is by far the best in the world.

When the Ashes is on most people stay glued to the TV or radio wherever they go. You can't go anywhere without being asked your opinion of the pitch & how the Aussies are doing

  13. Australia so I'm told, as it comes just second behind tennis for crowd numbers.

  14. australia.

  15. I think Australia..........

  16. Australia

  17. Australia, England only play cricket in certain areas so my penfriend there tells me, & soccer is their number 1 sport.

  18. Its more popular in England. Only football is more popular than cricket in the UK. In Australia aussie rules, horse racing, motor sports and rugby league are all more popular.

Cricket is England's national sport too!

  19. I think England, that is after all were it all started, and every were, were England invaded like South Africa, India and every were else

  20. Its popular in both countries but the hype is much higher when they face each other for the Ashes.

  21. Hi Owen,

I will take a wild guess and say, "England" My Friend.

    Your Friend,

    poppy1

  22. I bet it is in Australia. Aussies are great fans of any sports

specially in all those sports that they excel - including cricket.

In England, many do not follow cricket with passion as they do

for Soccer or Rugby. Brits are only keen with Cricket during the

Ashes and only when they is a tight contest as well. I have

spoken to many Brits and Aussies and from what I get from

them - Aussies: They follow their team with passion and

enthusiasm and critic/appreciate their players. Brits: They hardly follow except few die hard fans like Kookee, Oracle,

and many others. Many I have spoken to, they do not even

know if a series is being played. I have a neighbor who is

from England, and they do not follow Cricket at all even during

the Ashes. They are passionate about Soccer, Rugby, and

    other American sports.

So with the information I have talking with people from

different countries, Indians have the most followers, followed

by Pak, Aus, SL, SA, BD, NZ and WI.

    So I say Aussies.

  23. Having never been to Australia, I can't really comment on how popular it is Down Under.

From what I have read and seen, it is very popular there, and the Australian cricket captaincy is reputed to be the most important job in the country after the Prime Minister's.

As for England, many people would lead you to believe that it is not that popular.

It is very popular. there are thousands of small clubs, and many people play cricket at weekends. Also those who don't play follow cricket, even if only takking a passing interest in the game.

So I would say it is equally popular in both countries.

    And that is Very Popular.
